Program Support

Responsibilities

  • Provide physical support to TERP Quest Summer Day Camp.
  • Manage supplies and equipment for ongoing camp sessions.
  • Work in cooperation with camp staff to provide necessary supply items on site, as needed.
  • Care for department facilities and equipment.
  • In the absence of the Day Camp Counselor, supervise children ages 6-12 years old.
  • In the absence of the Day Camp Counselor, instruct and lead summer camp program.
  • In the absence of the Day Camp Counselor, maintain control during activities.
  • In the absence of the Day Camp Counselor, maintain effective communications with participants and parents.
  • In the absence of the Day Camp Counselor, assist with planning of daily activities for programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to relate to people of all ages and diverse background effectively.
  • Conscientious and dedicated.
  • Majoring in education, sport and leisure studies, social work, sport management, or similar field preferred.
  • Experience working with children in a recreational setting preferred.

Working Condition

  • Staff to participant of up to 1:10 for elementary school age groups and older.
  • Some light maintenance including trash disposal, sweeping or mopping.
  • Lifting and moving of athletic and recreational equipment to various camp sites.

Expectations

  • Follow department safety and risk management practices.
  • Follow department policies and procedures.
  • Attend pre-hire training.
  • The University Recreation and Wellness requires a criminal background check to be performed on all new camp instructor hires. If selected, you will be fingerprinted and asked to sign a criminal record disclosure form to enable this check to be performed.
  • Available at least 30 hours, weekdays between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
